Description
· Assist the Risk Manager in the roll out of all safety systems and protocols on site;
· Assist in the recruitment of the safety and emergency response teams;
· Lead a team of safety officers to provide safety support services (inspections, inductions, risk assessments, safety programmes, safety training and coaching) to all operating departments;
· Conduct site safety assessments and risk assessments, including in depth auditing, inspections and gap analysis;
· Oversee the development of an effective emergency response team;
· Manage the site risk register;
· Implement corrective procedures; and
· Carry out accident and incident investigations to ensure compliance with legal and best practice requirements.
Minimum Requirements
· Relevant degree or diploma in Safety Management;
· Minimum of 10 years safety management experience, with at least 4 of those years in underground mining;
· Emergency response management experience or exposure;
· Proficiency with safety systems;
· Excellent understanding of safety related legislation and industry trends;
· Exposure to a high safety culture is essential;
· Passion for safety and safe productive work processes;
· Good communication, negotiation and persuasion skills; and
· Visible safety leader.
